The Fine Arts Ministries at Greenville First is a very active and vital part of the First Church family. There are numerous opportunities to minister through music, drama, dance, visual arts and all aspects of sound, IMAG and video production. Mission Statement Fine Arts Ministries Exists... • To lift up the name of Jesus • To inspire Praise and Worship • To create an atmosphere welcoming the Holy Spirit • To reach the lost and bring about repentance • To show the love and grace of our Lord • To prepare the way for the preaching of the Word Sanctuary Choir Requirements • Basic music knowledge, ability to match pitch • Minimum age: 15 years old Rehearsal Sunday 4:30PM Praise/Worship Team Requirements • Capable of leading worship with strong listening skills in music • Proven dedication to choir rehearsals and ministry opportunities • Evident call for front-line platform ministry Rehearsal Sundays 10:00 AM Orchestra (brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion) Requirements At least junior high band level training Note: There are opportunities for beginning and middle school students as well. Rehearsal Sundays 10:00 AM Drama and Dance Drama Requirements • Soul Survivors ages 8 to 12 • Category 5 ages 13 to 19 • Active in student or childrens ministries Rehearsal TBA Dance – Miriam’s Praise Requirements • Miriam’s Praise ages 8 to 19 • Active in student or children’s ministries Rehearsal TBA Band Praise Band (Drums/percussion, bass, guitar, and keyboard) Requirements • At least junior high level of training • Empty Pockets – traveling praise and worship band • Flash Flood – Student praise and worship band • Active in sanctuary orchestra and student ministries Accompanying instruments (Piano, organ, keyboard) Requirements Accompanying experience, instruction through high school Rehearsal Sundays 10:00 AM Special Presentations Audio/Visual/IMAG Requirements Sound mixing experience and basic music knowledge is bonus, basic computer knowledge Rehearsal As needed with other Fine Arts Ministries Our Values We value and strive toward a worship and fine arts ministry with following characteristics: • All participants in the Fine Arts ministry should be worshippers at heart, in harmony with God, in agreement with the vision of this church, and committed to service through and fine arts ministries. • Fine Arts ministries should be well rounded, inclusive and highly corporate in praise and worship. All facets of fine arts ministry are equally important; we invite as many people as possible to participate and we are committed to leading the congregation in worship. • We believe in a God-centered, Christ-directed, and Spirit-lead selection of music. God’s direction is more important than personal preference. • We use a variety music styles. We will not dismiss meaningful praise and worship music on basis of style. • We aspire to musical excellence as a means, not as an end. A planned well-rehearsed worship team will eliminate distraction and allow focus on leading worship effectively. As a lead worshiper, you are encouraged to participate in weekly discipleship class and personal Bible study. First Pentecostal offers a variety of opportunities through Pathway to Purpose Sunday morning discipleship.
